Who We Are
The Edmonton Fiji Golf Association was founded in 2000 by a group of passionate golfers who wanted to build a strong community around the sport. Today, we continue to bring together golfers from all backgrounds, fostering camaraderie, competition, and a love for the game
The History Of The EFGA
In 1999, Sachuda Pillay, a new immigrant from Fiji, invited Sada, Parmod Naidu, and Sachin Naidu to join him for a round of golf. Armed with a case of beer and plenty of enthusiasm, the group quickly discovered that golf was no easy game. While Sachuda excelled, the others struggled, revealing a need for guidance and practice.
Recognizing the potential for growth, Sada reached out to Mr. Wasu Naiker and Mr. Binnu Prasad, known for their golfing skills. Together, they formed a small group that quickly gained traction, leading to the official establishment of the Edmonton Fiji Golf Association in 2000.
The association was founded by Mr. Sachuda Pillay, Mr. Wasu Naiker, Mr. Binnu (Birendra) Prasad, and Mr. Sada Mudliar. The first executive committee included Mr. Binnu Prasad as President, Mr. Sada Mudliar as Secretary, and Mr. Wasu Naiker as Treasurer. Since then, the club has remained active, with a thriving community of over 20 members.
